In baseball, teams play 162 games to see who can get the best record and that which comes with it – home-field advantage.
In football, playing at home is worth about three points in the odds. In the NBA, the home team wins 63 percent of the time. In the NFL, it is 58 percent. For MLB, the number is 54 percent.
This is not an American phenomenon. International cricket teams win 60 percent of their home games, while rugby teams win 58 percent of the time.
In sports, the home field matters. The same is true in life. The Bible says, “Therefore, we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith. Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).
Did you catch that? As we run the race before, every saint who came before us is cheering us on, from our eternal home. Earth is not our home; heaven is. We have the home .0field advantage.
Recovery Step: Run the race for the home team who is cheering you on.
