All recovery is spiritual.
J.I. Packer said, “Disregard the study of God, and you sentence yourself to stumble and blunder through life blindfolded.”
Every day, I do two readings: something in recovery and something from the Bible. If I have to pick one, I choose the Bible. Why? Because every time I draw near to God, I seem to find a little recovery in the process.
I suggest you create a plan to seek both God and recovery. I know a lot of people who hope to draw close to God and who hope to find lasting sobriety. But hope is not a plan. A plan is a plan.
Recovery Step: “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always” (1 Chronicles 16:11).
