Are you married to a person in denial? Maybe it’s you who is in denial. How do you know if your sexual compulsivity rises to the level of addiction, really?
In his article, “Sex Addiction 101,” Robert Weiss helps the porn user understand the magnitude of his problem. He writes, “The simple truth is that sex addiction is not defined by how much sex or even the type of sex a person has. The defining factor is how the activity affects your life. If someone is preoccupied to the point of obsession with sexual fantasy and has repeatedly tried and failed to stop, and is experiencing negative consequences as a result, that raised red flags for sexual addiction.”
Consider these questions:
- Is your mind preoccupied with sexual fantasy?
- Have you tried to stop?
- Have you suffered negative consequences?
If you (or your loved one) answered yes to any of these three questions, you (or they) need help.
