Let’s play Bible trivia.
Question #1 – Who were Igal, Gaddiel, and Shammua?
Question #2 – Who were Joshua and Caleb?
The answer to both questions is the same. These five men were among the 12 spies whom Moses sent to explore Canaan, to see if they were able to take the Promised Land. Igal, Gaddiel, and Shammua were among the ten who gave a majority report. “There are giants in the land. It is too hard.”
No one outside of their immediate families remembers Igal, Gaddiel, or Shammua. But everyone knows Joshua and Caleb, the two spies who gave the minority report, who said that with God’s strength, the people could take the land successfully.
Being in the majority sometimes means being on the wrong side. The best practice is to do the right thing and believe the right thing, whether you are in the majority or not.
Recovery Step: Claim this promise today. “The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread?” (Psalm 27:1).
