Ever heard of Sad Sam Jones, Pud Galvin, and Kid Nichols? Perhaps the names Tom3 Seaver, Nolan Ryan, and Roger Clemens are more familiar to you.
All six were great Major League pitchers. All six are in the Hall of Fame. The three modern players (Seaver, Ryan, and Clemens) combined to throw an amazing 771 complete games for their careers.
But Sad Sam, Pud, and Kid tossed nearly twice that many complete games – 1,428.
There’s something to be said for finishing what you start.
Paul never bragged, “I have started the race.” Nope, Paul said, “I have finished the course” (2 Timothy 4:7).
