Paul said, “We have this treasure in jars of clay” (2 Corinthians 4:7). God has always placed the finest treasures in the most breakable jars. Here are just a few examples of God’s broken soldiers:
Abraham – too old
Elijah – suicidal
Joseph – abused
Job – bankrupt
Moses – speech problem
Gideon – riddled with fear
Samson – womanizer
Rahab – a prostitute
Samaritan woman – divorced
Noah – a drunk
Jeremiah – too young
Jacob – a cheater
David – a murderer
Jonah – ran from God
Naomi – a widow
Peter – denied Christ
Martha – worrier
Zacchaeus – greedy
Disciples – fell asleep praying
Recovery Step: Each of these men and women were jars of clay. But it turns out, those are the only kinds of jars God ever uses. So hand over your jar today. Let God fill it until it overflows with blessings for those around you.
