On this day in history, 35 years ago, the great John Elway took his Denver Broncos to the Super Bowl, only to lose to the Washington Redskins, 42-10. For many, such a blowout would have been devastating.
But another January 31 would eventually come around, 11 years later, when Elway would redeem himself, leading the Broncos to a Super Bowl win over the Atlanta Falcons, 34-19.
Resilience. Nothing matters more.
The old prophet said, “Even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord!” (Habakkuk 3:18).
Yesterday’s mistakes do not dictate tomorrow’s outcome. I would argue that you will be better tomorrow, not despite your past, but because of it.
Recovery Step: Don’t let your past define you. Learn from your mistakes and move forward.
