Juneteenth is a celebration that began on June 19, 1865. Union general Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery. His message was met with shock and celebration. What the people didn’t realize was that slavery had been legally banned two and a half years earlier, on January 1, 1863.
The people were already free, but they didn’t know it.
Too many addicts are praying for God to give us a freedom that has already been provided. Freedom is less a condition than a choice. Jesus paid the price for your freedom, on the cross. You have all the tools, knowledge, and strength to stay sober for the next 24 hours.
