A pastor, a doctor, and an engineer went out for a round of golf. It wasn’t long before they caught up to a group playing ahead of them, that was very slow. When they asked the groundskeeper why the other group was so slow, they were told that all three golfers were blind.
The pastor, doctor, and engineer each offered a different solution.
Pastor: “Let’s pray for them, that they might be healed.”
Doctor: “I can do surgery for them to possibly restore their sight.”
Engineer: “Let them play at night.”
With all due respect to the pastor and doctor, I’m afraid I’d most likely be in the engineer’s camp on this one. The man was thinking in a very practical way. And sometimes, that’s a good thing.
In recovery, it’s not enough to wait for someone to pray over you or perform surgery. You need to do some work yourself. And if you aren’t sure where to begin, try this: “If you lack wisdom, ask of God” (James 1:5).
Recovery Step: God can heal your blindness. But whether he does or not, keep playing.
