Kobe Bryant was one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Speaking at the ESPYS, he revealed the secret to his success: “Rest at the end, not in the middle.”
In recovery, too many of us rest in the middle. We take a break from groups and other recovery work when we aren’t done yet. We rest. And then we fall.
Nothing matters more to recovery than persistence. Recovery is not a ride you get off halfway through. You must stay on to the end. Going to groups, sponsoring others, doing the work – there is no expiration date on recovery work.
Paul said, “Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 6:9).
Recovery Step: There is a time in the future when you will be able to rest and no longer work on recovery. But you aren’t there yet.
