Lance Armstrong was the unquestioned king of cycling, with an unequaled seven Tour de France titles. But it all came unraveled on this date in history.
On October 22, 2012, Armstrong was stripped of his titles and banned from the sport he loved. The lifetime ban followed a report from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, that accused him of leading a massive doping program on his teams.
The saga of Lance Armstrong is a parable for addiction.
So many times, we have seen men and women achieve great success, live lives of integrity, and be elevated to esteemed status, only to be undercut by addiction.
It’s the old story of Mrs. Lincoln. Other than the gunshot, she enjoyed the play.
The Bible warns, “If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12).
Recovery Step: Your addiction can be your undoing. But it doesn’t have to be.
