When Bob’s lawnmower quit on him, he called the repair shop. He asked the man at the shop what he recommended.
“We always suggest you try to fix the lawnmower yourself first. Only bring it to us if that doesn’t work.”
Bob responded, “Wow! Thanks for the tip. But does your boss know you’re turning away business?”
“It was his idea,” said the worker. “We have found that when people try to fix things themselves, they only make things worse. Then, when they finally break down and bring it into the shop, we have a major project on our hands.”
Step 2 says, “We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.”
Recovery Step: If your “lawnmower” is broken, bring it to the one who says, “Fear not, I will help you” (Isaiah 41:13).
