“They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water” (Jeremiah 2:13).
Do your cisterns hold water?
The only way your cisterns are guaranteed to hold water is if you turn to the leak preventer every day. Jonathan Edwards said it well: “How can you expect to dwell with God forever, if you so neglect and forsake him here?”
When we seek the fountain of living waters, we find our cisterns overflowing with the abundance of God’s blessings. We live our lives – and recovery – on a whole new level. We become the man or woman described by A.W. Tozer, when he said, “A true believer sees the invisible, hears the inaudible, and knows the unknowable.”
Recovery Step: If your cistern has a leak, bring it to God. If it is full, keep coming back to the fountain of living waters every single day.
