On this date in history, June 8, 1862, the Battle of Cross Keys became a seminal moment in the American Civil War. On that day, Confederate General Stonewall Jackson saved the Army of Northern Virginia from a Union assault on the James Peninsula, which was led by General George B. McClellan.
On June 8, 1862, the Confederate forces stood strong. But eventually, they would fall to an army that greatly outnumbered them in numbers and weaponry.
We are all in a war. And in that war, there are battles which will be won and lost. No one has a perfect won-loss record, especially in recovery. But we can do what the Union forces did; we can finish strong. First, we must know our enemy.
The Bible declares, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).
It is critical that we recognize the identity of our enemy, as well as the power that assures us of victory.
Recovery Step: Fight on the right team. Surrender to the right Commander. Utilize the right strategy. Then finish strong.
