Recently, I read that in a fight, a tiger beats a lion every time. But when it’s five tigers versus five lions, the lions win. Why? Because they know how to fight together.
The Scripture teaches, “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought” (1 Corinthians 1:10).
All of us are stronger than any of us. You need a group and a group needs you. The opposite of addiction is connection. (I can do this all day.)
I’m not a big soccer fan, but I’ve heard of Abby Wambach. She is a legend in her sport and a member of the Soccer Hall of Fame. She weighs in on the power of the group: “I’ve never scored a goal in my life without getting a pass from someone else.”
Recovery Step: If you plan to win at recovery, learn to score off someone else’s pass. And learn to pass on your recovery, as well.
