A busload of politicians was driving down a country road when it ran off the road and hit a tree in an old farmer’s field. After viewing the tragedy up close, the old farmer was moved to give the politicians a respectful burial.
The farmer then went to visit the local sheriff to report the tragedy. He said, “I hope I did the right thing by burying them on the spot.”
The sheriff said, “As long as they were all dead, you did the right thing. They were all dead, weren’t they?”
The farmer said, “They kept insisting they were still alive, but you know how politicians lie!”
The Bible states, “A false witness shall be punished, and a liar shall be caught” (Proverbs 19:9).
There are several problems with lying. Here are two:
- The truth always comes out.
- Lying disrupts any recovery progress.
Recovery Step: Lying is never a good idea. Choose honesty – every time.
