We have hundreds of daily readers who are married to sex addicts. If that is you, I want to encourage you to take care of yourself. Practice good self-care. Here are just a few of the things that you might do.
- Avoid self-blame – your husband’s addiction is on him.
- Set safe boundaries – put your needs first for once.
- Don’t isolate – you can’t get through this alone.
- Prepare for rocky days – the next year will have many ups and downs.
- Proceed on your own timetable – we all heal at different paces.
Ladies, make Matthew 15:32 your verse for today. “Jesus called his disciples to him and said, ‘I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry.’”
Jesus has compassion on those who are hurting. That certainly includes you. So prioritize your needs. Take whatever steps are necessary to help you heal.
Recovery Step: If you are married to a sex addict, do whatever you have to do in order to take care of yourself.
