Let’s put God to the test today. Let’s pray for a miracle. May the psalmist’s words be ours: “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples” (Psalm 77:14).
Hmm. Where should we start? We are mostly addicts here, so maybe we should start there. Let’s pray for a miracle of the highest order. Let’s follow the advice of prayer warrior Donald Miller.
Miller said, “Ask God to heal you of self-addiction.”
Did you catch that? The prayer is not for God to heal us of our sex addiction, but our self-addiction. And there is a world of wisdom there. Pure selfishness has kept more than one addict from committing herself to the hard work of recovery.
Recovery Step: In order to get over your addiction, you have to get over yourself. And that requires self-awareness, self-denial, and self-sacrifice.
