Erma Bombeck described her relationship with her mother: “When my mother asked, ‘Can I give you a piece of advice?’ it was a mere formality. Regardless of my response, I was going to get a piece of Mother’s advice.”
Now, we may not always want wise counsel. But we always need wise counsel.
The Bible says, “Hear counsel and receive instruction, that you might be wise” (Proverbs 19:20).
I offer this suggestion. At some point today, seek the wisdom of another person. Find it in the words they say or the book they have written. Wherever you have to find it, find it.
Recovery Step: Seek the wise counsel of someone else today. That’s not hard to do if you’re truly humble.
