You are special. We all are. C.S. Lewis wrote, “You have never talked to a mere mortal.”
In the eyes of the Creator, you aren’t a “mere” anything.
In December, 1968, Apollo 8 orbited the moon ten times, looking for the perfect landing spot for a future mission. Astronaut Bill Anders took a picture of the Earth rising, from space. Along with a hundred other astronauts and cosmonauts, Anders was a subject for a study which revealed what has been called the “overview effect.” That is all about seeing the big picture.
The study found that those who view the planet from space return with a different perspective. They attain a global consciousness and become more appreciative of God’s creation and our role in the universe.
Paul said it like this: “We are God’s handiwork” (Ephesians 2:10).
God has created you as much more than a “mere mortal” in an amazing universe. You have a special calling to play a special role. You are God’s handiwork.
Recovery Step: Be the person God created you to be.
