Okay, baseball fans, here’s a trivia question for you. Who had more career no-hitters?
- Nolan Ryan
- Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez, Greg Maddux, Steve Carlton, Grover Alexander, Lefty Grove, Don Sutton, Don Drysdale, and Whitey Ford – combined
Answer: 1. Nolan Ryan
Nolan Ryan tossed a record seven no-hitters over his amazing 27-year career. By comparison, the other nine pitchers listed above threw a combined 0 no-hitters.
There’s something to be said for perfection. And for seven games, Nolan Ryan was perfect.
Or was he? In one no-hitter, he walked eight batters. The fact is, no pitcher has ever pitched a truly perfect game, which would consist of 27 strikeouts on 81 pitches.
No one is perfect. Not even Nolan Ryan.
Recovery Step: The Bible says, “There is none who does not sin” (Ecclesiastes 7:20). So quit shooting for perfect and aim for faithful.
