Here’s a great question to start your day. How come you never notice your nose?
As long as your eyes are open, your nose is in your line of sight. There is never a time when you can’t see your nose. So let me ask it again. How come you never notice your nose?
Answer: Your brain ignores your nose through a process called unconscious selective attention.
Our brains tune out our noses. Our noses are in sight, but our brains have been conditioned to not notice. Even though your nose is right there, in plain view, your eyes look elsewhere.
That would be a good way to respond to visual stimuli. Do what Job did. “I made a covenant with my eyes, that I would not sin against God by looking lustfully at young women” (Job 31:1).
