I recently came across this line: “Men were given a brain and reproductive machinery, but only enough blood to run one at a time.”
Maintaining sexual integrity is a battle that men have struggled with as long as there have been men. The man who was said to pursue God’s own heart reflected, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word” (Psalm 119:9).
Andy Stanley nailed it: “Nothing has stolen more dreams, dashed more hopes, broken up more families, and messed up more people psychologically than our propensity to disregard God’s commands regarding sexual purity.”
The question becomes, how do we bring our brains and our sexual desires into alignment? Dr. Alexandra Katehakis offers the following solution. In a word: transparency.
Katehakis writes, “Transparency means allowing ourselves to be seen and known authentically, no matter the consequences.”
Recovery Step: If you are to bring your brain and sexual desires into alignment, you have to be known – not by everyone, but by someone.
