A woman walked up to a little old man rocking in a chair on his porch. “I couldn’t help noticing how happy you look,” she said. “What’s your secret to a long happy life?”
The man replied, “I smoke three packs of cigarettes a day. I also drink a case of whiskey, eat fatty foods, and never exercise.”
The woman responded in amazement, “So just how old are you?”
The man answered, “Twenty-six.”
We are not always what we appear.
The Bible says, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
Recovery Step: Never assume anyone else is doing as well – or as poorly – as they appear. Get involved. Ask questions. Be their friend.
