“If I only had one more hit.”
Millions are in search for that elusive “hit” that will forever satisfy their sexual and relational longings. We are convinced that by getting more of what is never enough, we will finally be content. Through thousands of porn images, hundreds of “hook-ups” and countless nights of self-pleasure, the hunt continues. It has no end.
“Maybe if I just had enough money to get whatever I wanted,” we might think.
Enter Solomon, the wealthiest of the wealthy, a man with hundreds of sexual relationships. Read his words carefully.
“I denied myself nothing my eyes desired . . . nothing was gained under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 2:10, 11).
Did you catch that? Solomon said two things. He said that he gave himself every sexual pleasure he ever imagined. And nothing was gained.
Recovery Step: One is too many and a thousand is never enough. Quit looking for intimacy in all the wrong places.
