It would be impossible to summarize the entire Bible – 1,189 chapters – with one word. Among the 66 books of the Bible there are 31,102 verses, consisting of 783,137 words. Which of those words is most important? Hard to name just one. But If I could say just one, it might be . . .
“Come.”
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who labor” (Matthew 11:28).
And we read this in the final book of the Bible: “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come, let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost” (Revelation 22:17).
Here’s the problem. As addicts, we often live in shame. We feel unworthy, not good enough to walk in the presence of God. But there’s good news. God knows that. Maybe that’s why he says, “Come” so often.
Recovery Step: God cares enough to take you as you are, and he loves you enough to not leave you that way. So come.
