There are a lot of phobias out there. The five most common phobias are the fear of darkness, heights, flying, confined spaces, and driving. Other common phobias include the fear of public speaking, the sight of blood, drowning, crowds, and spiders.
Add this one to the list – the fear of open doors.
It’s a real thing. The technical word is entamaphobia.
I read about a guy who has a fear of open doors. If a door is entirely open, he can’t go through it. His brother got so upset with him that he threatened him by saying, “Stop this, or I’m going to lock you in a room with the doors wide open.”
Some of us are like that. We have a tough time making decisions. We wait, we plan, we overthink. The door before us is wide open, but we suffer from paralysis of analysis.
Recovery Step: Embrace this verse: “I will not be shaken” (Psalm 16:8). Then walk through the open doors God sets before you.
