Pain. It’s a part of life. It’s what C.S. Lewis called “God’s unwanted gift.” We’ve all been there. Everyone I know has experienced their fair share of pain.
The key is how we respond to our pain. Dr. Robert Puff, host of the Happiness Podcast, suggests three steps to processing our pain.
- Release our pain.
- Express anger in healthy ways.
- Examine our self-narratives caused by pain and trauma.
It is important that we process our pain, in order to move on from it. The promise of God is unrelenting. “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Recovery Step: Learn to process your pain. And while you’re at it, wait for the promise of God.
