Dr. David Susman, clinical psychologist, has written a helpful article, “10 Keys to Recovery.” One of his keys to recovery is this:
Develop a plan.
Susman explains, “Without direction, it is impossible to get from Point A to Point B. Your plan should include action steps. It must be written down and it ought to be shared with others.”
God is the great Planner. He told the young prophet, “For I know the plans I have for you” (Jeremiah 29:11).
You need a recovery plan. It should probably include weekly recovery meetings, daily devotions, daily exercise, Step work, spiritual disciplines, church attendance, accountability, protection of your devices, financial guardrails, therapy, and more.
Your plan needs to be practical, specific, and measurable. There is no better time to develop your personal recovery plan than right now.
