If you know anything about old movies, you are familiar with this iconic line from the classic, Casablanca. “Play it again, Sam.”
The problem is that Sam, in the movie, couldn’t actually “play it again,” because he was a drummer, not a piano player.
We know that nothing is impossible with God. Jesus said it himself. “Nothing is impossible with God” (Matthew 19:26).
But that doesn’t mean nothing is impossible for man. It was impossible for Sam to play the piano piece on his drums. And there are things that are impossible for you and me to do, as well.
- It is impossible to stay sober on our own.
- It is impossible to keep secrets and stay sober.
- It is impossible to stay sober without helping someone else stay sober.
Recovery Step: Live in the realm of the possible. Do the things you know will work to keep you safe and sober.
