Popcorn hasn’t always been a snack in movie theaters. Theaters actually hated popcorn in the beginning. Silent films require a literate audience, focused on the movie. So upscale movie theaters banned food during the show – especially popcorn. They demanded full concentration from theater attendees.
Now, everyone eats popcorn in a movie theater. We have been trained to do what everyone else does. I suppose that’s okay in a theater, but not in life.
The Bible warns, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:1).
We must be willing to change our minds if we are to change our lives. George Bernard Shaw wrote, “Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”
Recovery Step: Declare to God your willingness to change your mind – and then your life.
