“By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient” (Hebrews 11:31).
Most of us have heard about Joshua and the battle of Jericho, when “the walls came tumbling down.” But let’s not miss the account of an ordinary citizen of Jericho who God used to do something extraordinary.
Rahab, a harlot, risked her life to hide two Israelites who had come to spy out the city. Hearing of God’s work in and through his people had led her to believe that the God of Israel was the one true God. Because of her “risking faith” she and her family did not perish in Jericho. In fact, Rahab became part of the royal lineage of Christ.
Do you sometimes feel like an unlikely person whom God could never use? Then remember Rahab! God can and wants to use you to do extraordinary things for him.
Recovery Step: If God could use the prostitute (Rahab), he can certainly use you. What matters is not your past mistakes, but your present commitment. And that is something you can do something about – now.
