The French poet Jacques Reda had a habit of walking the streets of Paris with the intention of seeing something new every day. That is how he renewed his passion for the city he loved.
It is important to renew your passion for the things you see every day.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote,
“Earth’s crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God;
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes,
The rest sit around it, and pluck blackberries.”
Are you taking off your shoes, or are you plucking blackberries?
We are all busy. That’s why I write a daily Recovery Minute and not a Recovery Hour. But in the crazy non-stop world we live in, it is imperative that we take time to renew our passion for all God has put around us. We must find time to take off our shoes.
Recovery Step: Follow the example of God’s creation. David said, “Let the fields be jubilant, and all the trees of the forest sing for joy” (Psalm 96:12).
