Let me start your day with an intriguing thought. We try to resemble Jesus when we are called to reflect Jesus.
That describes the vast majority of my Christian life. I have committed more to doing the things that God wants me to do than I have to God himself. It’s easy for any of us to fall into that trap.
We aren’t really called to resemble Jesus. And let’s be honest. No matter what you do, it is highly unlikely that someone will ever walk up to you and ask, “Has anyone ever told you that you resemble Jesus?”
Make reflection your goal, not resemblance.
In A 50-Day Devotional, Dana Arcuri said it well. “You don’t need to save a village – only one lost soul. Be the reflection of Christ and shine his light. The cost is little, but the reward is rich.”
Recovery Step: Try this. “Be renewed in knowledge after the image of the Creator” (Colossians 3:10).
