As Paul Harvey used to say, let me give you the “rest of the story.” Let’s talk about rest.
Rest has dozens of great benefits for the addict, or anyone else. Here are just a few.
- Rest reduces stress.
- Rest boosts creativity.
- Rest improves productivity.
- Rest enhances decision-making.
There is a reason we often “sleep on it.” A time of rest puts us in a better position to do and think the right things.
God made this promise: “I myself will bless my sheep. I myself will give them rest. The lost I will seek out, the strayed I will bring back, the injured I will bind up. The sick I will heal, shepherding them along the way” (Ezekial 34:16-16).
Recovery Step: God is pro-rest. You should be too. And that is the “rest of the story.”
