Let’s talk about Rosie Revere.
These are the words from a great old children’s book, Rosie Revere, Engineer:
“Your brilliant first flop was a raging success!
Come on, let’s get busy and on to the next!
She handed a notebook to Rosie Revere,
Who smiled at her aunt as it all became clear.
Life might have failures, but this was not it.
The only true failure can come if you quit.”
Unfortunately, relapse is a part of most of our stories. Recovery is more about progress than perfection. The key is not to reach some sort of mystical goal, but to keep moving in the right direction. And when we fall, we get up – every time. You only fail when you quit.
Our Lord’s brother said it like this: “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12).
Recovery Step: Do what Rosie Revere did. Turn your brilliant flop into a raging success.
