The next time you play Poker, know the odds.
The odds of drawing a royal flush are one in 649,740. The odds of a straight flush are better, at one in 72,192.
In cards, there is a chance you will find incredible success. But those odds are small. If you want to try your hand at something more sure, put your faith in Christ.
Peter wrote, “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast” (1 Peter 5:10).
Will there be suffering in this life? Yes. But on the other side of suffering is blessing. And on the other side of addiction is recovery. God’s promises are secure. So, the next time you are tempted to put a deck of cards into your hand in hopes of finding blessing, put your life in God’s hand, where the odds of blessing are 100 percent.
