Never judge your self-worth by your net worth.
Men tend to draw their self-esteem from their jobs, women from their relationships. So this whole net worth thing is mostly (but not totally) a guy problem.
It’s okay to have things and it’s okay to enjoy them. But don’t be so tied to what you have that if you lose it, you will spiral into deep depression.
The Bible says, “But as for me, my contentment is not in wealth but in seeing you and knowing all is well between us. And when I awake in heaven, I will be fully satisfied, for I will see you face to face” (Psalm 17:15).
Jay Leno was once asked why he had 200 cars. His answer: “Because 199 wasn’t enough.” Things of this world are never enough to satisfy.
Recovery Step: Find your contentment in Christ.
