While preparing for his fight with George Foreman, Muhammad Ali said, “I’ve seen George Foreman shadow box, and the shadow won.”
Often, the shadow wins.
There are 52 references in the Bible to shadows. Here’s one such reference, tucked away in one of the least-read books of the Old Testament: “Our days on earth are like a passing shadow” (1 Chronicles 29:15).
Shadows are dark. But they don’t last. They can represent times in our lives when nothing seems clear. Shadows can change the way everything around us appears. But again, shadows don’t last.
While you’re in the shadow, remember this. There cannot be a shadow without first having the presence of light. The one who said, “I am the light” is near, or there could be no shadow.
Recovery Step: If you are walking in the shadow right now, trust in the Light who must be close by.
