The story is told of a man walking down the street on a very cold day in a poor part of town. He saw two boys playing, neither of whom had gloves. So the man removed his wool gloves, then walked over and handed them to one of the boys. Almost immediately, the boy removed one of the gloves and handed it to the other boy.
That is the picture of Step 12 – helping others. Step 12 should be carried out organically, with little thought. If you are committed to sharing your gloves with another person in need, God will bring that person across your path. I guarantee it.
Don’t hold back. The Bible says, “Now this I say, he who sows sparingly, will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (1 Corinthians 9:6).
We live in a really cold world. Look around. Find someone who needs a glove.
Recovery Step: Do two things today. First, ask God to direct you to a person whom you can help in his recovery. Second, do it!
