What is the key to a great marriage?
If there was an easy answer to that question, there wouldn’t be 10 million books on marriage in print. Every marriage counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, and Recovery Minute reader has an opinion on the topic.
Let me take a swing at it. Or better yet, I’ll let Robert Brault pitch hit for me. This was his take on how to have a great marriage: “Find someone who will love you for no reason, then shower that person with reasons.”
Brault called that “the ultimate happiness.”
Guys, the Bible says, “Love your wife as you love yourself” (Ephesians 5:33). That means we are to make the first move. So try this today. Don’t wait for your wife to become Wonder Woman before you love her. If she doesn’t adore you like you’d like her to, give her reasons to adore you. Shower her with those reasons.
Then step back and watch God go to work.
