We find this fascinating passage in the Old Testament.
“Joshua said to Moses, ‘There is the sound of war in the camp.’ Moses replied, ‘It is not the sound of victory, it is not the sound of defeat; it is the sound of singing that I hear’” (Exodus 32:17-18).
Life is often a war. And in that battle, we need the sound of singing. Here are three benefits of singing, cited by Dr. Freya Bailes:
Singing creates emotional wellness.
Singing reduces stress.
Singing builds community.
If you feel like you’re losing the fight for sobriety, call time out and do this . . .
Sing.
Recovery Step: Get alone sometime today, and sing a familiar hymn or praise chorus. That may be half the battle.
