What kind of legacy are you leaving for those coming behind you?
In his song, “Small Town Southern Man,” Alan Jackson sang these powerful lyrics:
“He was always proud of what he had,
He said his greatest contribution
Is the ones you leave behind,
Raised on the ways and gentle kindness
Of a small town Southern man.”
You don’t have to be a “small town Southern man” to leave a legacy. In fact, I would argue that you will leave a legacy. The only question is what kind of legacy that will be.
Recovery Step: The Bible says a wise man leaves a legacy to those who come behind him (Psalm 112:2). Let that powerful concept inform your daily lifestyle. Be the person today whom you will want your child to remember tomorrow.
