A man approached the border on his bicycle, carrying two heavy bags. The border patrol suspected drugs, but when they opened the bags, they only found sand. The next day, the man was back, crossing the border on a bicycle, carrying two bags. And once again, the border patrol checked the bags. Still, just sand.
This continued for several months. Then, one day, the border patrol saw the man riding his bike in town and said, “For months, we thought you were smuggling something across the border.”
The man replied, “I was.”
The agent said, “But we kept checking your bags. What were you smuggling?”
The man answered, “Bicycles.”
Application – In our addiction, we are all smuggling something. Many sneak porn “across the border.” For others, it is cash or personal contact information. For each of us, it is honesty. And in the process, we are stealing something from our spouse, our God, and ourselves.
Recovery Step: “Let him who stole steal no more” (Ephesians 4:28).
