I’ve heard a lot of successful strategies for how to do well in recovery. But there is one line I have never heard.
“I struggled with my sobriety until I started spending more time on social media.”
In my latest book, Recovery Rules, I suggest 100 simple truisms that can enhance your recovery. Here’s Rule #39 – “You’re probably spending too much time on social media.”
I know, it’s hard to let social media go. If you get off social media, you have to find new ways to get angry. But it just might be worth it.
Social media can be triggering. Sexual images abound. Meaningless dribble abounds even more. Could it be that you can find something more productive (and less triggering) to do with your time?
Recovery Step: Spend less time on social media.
