Christmas programs have given us nearly unlimited quotes of inspiration. And then there are other quotes that remind us of life as it really is for so many. Like this, from A Charlie Brown Christmas: “Rats. Nobody sent me a Christmas card today. I almost wish there wasn’t a holiday season. I know nobody likes me. Why do we have to have a holiday season to emphasize it?”
Do you ever feel like Charlie Brown? Well, there’s hope.
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel, which means, God with us” (Matthew 1:23).
With that single verse, God puts to rest this unrelenting need of every heart. Somebody likes you. And not just any “somebody,” but the one who knows you best.
If you can’t celebrate anything else this week, celebrate this – God is with you. And yes, he really does like you.
Recovery Step: Take a peek into the manger, then say it with me. “He is with me and he likes me!”
