Too few of us are willing to speak up for truth.
According to Dr. Phil, the number of people unwilling to speak up for what they believe has tripled in the last 75 years.
There are three times when you need to speak up.
- When you know what you’re talking about. “Everyone should be quick to listen and slow to speak” (James 1:19).
- When it builds someone up. “Speak words that build others up” (Ephesians 4:29).
- When the moment demands it. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up, according to their needs” (Ephesians 4:29).
The words you use matter – a lot. The degree to which you build others up will be the degree to which you benefit yourself.
Recovery Step: Be willing to speak up. Say the right things to the right people at the right time. Your recovery will thank you for it.
