A British historian named Arnold Toynbee spent 30 years (1934-1964) studying the rise and fall of 19 civilizations. He found one constant throughout. The collapse of every civilization never came from outside attacks. They all fell from within. It was when they ceased to create the future that they began to die.
R.T. Kendall wrote, “The greatest opposition to what God is doing today comes from those who were on the cutting edge of what God was doing yesterday.”
The difference in where you are today and where you will be in one year will be based on two things: (a) the books you read, and (b) the people you spend time with.
Choose both very carefully.
Recovery Step: Stay fresh in your daily recovery. That will bring God’s promise to fruition in your life: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” (Philippians 1:6).
