In my never-ending pursuit of good recovery material, I browse through several blogs and articles each week. I recently came across an article which identified 12 tips for staying sober. I love #6 on their list – develop a structured schedule.
It’s so true. Having a chaotic or disorganized lifestyle can hinder your recovery. It’s important to develop a structured daily and weekly schedule and stick to it. That will also help you achieve other goals in life.
Harry Truman said, “In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over themselves. Self-discipline with all of them came first.”
Solomon said it like this: “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls” (Proverbs 25:28).
Your sobriety tomorrow will be determined by what you do today. You must be intentional with your schedule. That requires structure.
