Hall-of-Fame coach Chuck Knoll won 68 percent of his NFL games – with Terry Bradshaw as his quarterback. When anyone else played quarterback, Knoll only won 47 percent of his games. With Tom Brady at quarterback, Bill Belichick won 77 percent of the time; with other quarterbacks, just 48 percent. And Marv Levy won 66 percent of the time, so long as Jim Kelly was under center. But when anyone else was playing quarterback, Levy won just 42 percent of his games.
It doesn’t matter how great you are; you can’t win by yourself – in football, life, or recovery. Just as Moses needed Aaron, David needed Jonathan, and Paul needed Timothy, you need someone to walk with you through this journey ahead.
Psalm 133:1 reads, “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! We all need each other at one time or another.”
Recovery Step: You need this person – an accountability partner, fellow climber, sponsor, or friend. Recovery is a team sport. You can win, but you can’t do it yourself.
